Allia sends certain messages automatically to streamline communication and reduce administrative work. Here's what happens behind the scenes:
Invoices
When you send an invoice to a patient, the invoice with a Stripe payment link is automatically delivered in two places:
Email β Sent to the patient's registered email address
Messages tab β Appears in your message thread with that patient
This dual delivery ensures that patients can conveniently access their invoices, whether they check email or the Allia app first.
You can track invoice payment status in the Payments section of your EHR. Paid invoices are marked immediately so you know before the next session whether payment has cleared.
Treatment Plans
When you create a treatment plan and check 'Send to patient', it is automatically sent via the Messages tab.
Patients can view the treatment plan directly in their app, which makes it easy to review goals, interventions, and progress between sessions.
All Other Messages Are Manual
Invoices, and treatment plans are the only automatic messages that appear in the Messages tab.
Everything else in the Messages tab must be sent manually by the clinician.
Pro Tip: Reminders vs. Messages
System reminders (for appointments, forms, and assessments) are sent via email and push app notificationsβnot through the Messages tab. These automated reminders work in the background, keeping patients on track without cluttering your message threads.
